En materia de contratación estatal, la Ley 80 de 1993 fue modificada por la Ley 1150 de 2007, Decreto 734 de 2012 el cual reglamenta la Ley 80 de 1993 y la Ley 1150 de 2007 sobre las modalidades de selección, publicidad y selección objetiva y se dictan otras disposiciones. Igualmente con la entrada en vigencia de la Ley 1474 de 2011 se incluyeron una serie de inhabilidades, incompatibilidades que deben ser tenidas en cuenta al momento de contratar a fin de no incurrir en faltas disciplinarias.
